Rhodes College Level IV Arboretum

Origin

Since its origination in the early 1950’s, the Rhodes Arboretum has been a valued environmental and aesthetic aspect of our campus. In 2011, Professor Rosanna Cappellato spearheaded efforts to certify Rhodes as an Arboretum, and a number of Rhodes faculty, staff, and students have been involved over the decades to conserve and increase tree species on campus.

Current Directions

The Arboretum is currently co-managed by collaborative team of faculty, staff, and community tree experts - lead by the Urban Forestry Fellows. This new management method aims to increase student involvement, educational opportunities, species biodiversity and conservation efforts on campus.

Arboretum Guide

The Arboretum Guide is one of the main responsibilities of managing the 120 tree map on our ever-changing campus. The Guide team works together to make sure everything is accessible and accurate. Take a look at our pamphlet here or pick up one in person from Kimberly Kasper’s Office.
